When I heard that we only get one day off for fall break, I decided I really wanted to make it count. I've been going on and off to VT's Outdoor Club meetings and heard about a day long rafting trip to the upper section of the Galley River in West Virginia, they had worked out a deal for about $70 which included a couple of meals, wetsuits, and of course, some of the best white water rafting to be had in the nation.

View overlooking the New River from Endless Wall, shortly after taking this shot went over the edge. |
So I talked it over with my roommates and they guys across the hall from me, we decided that we'd make it a two day trip and I called up Jacob to meet us part way with some climbing gear. I found a map of the sites to climb on, and we headed out Sunday afternoon to do some repelling on the Endless Wall overlooking the New River in the New River Gorge Nation River. It was a blast most of the other guys hadn't been before, and as you can see from the picture to the left, what a place to start out!

Pillow Rock was in fact, very hard, which we found out when we slammed into it. Duge(our guide) is in back, then Pual and Kenny , Jacob and Jason in the middle, and Luke and Sam are in the front. |
We met up with the main VT Outdoors Club group later that night and hit the Upper Galley River on Monday morning... only after signing our lives away on those wonderful release forms, the hell I'm not going to hold you responsible if you guide us into a rock and I crack my head open. But we had a great time, and ended up with the most experienced guide on the river that day. But they we had a book it home to clean up and get ready for classes Tuesday morning. Still though, well worth the trip.
